The Natick Cooperative Playgroup (NCP) is a nonprofit corporation established by Natick parents to provide a social environment for children under the age of five.  The organization, which was formed over 35 years ago, offers playgroup sessions September through May four days a week.  The playgroup sessions are held in the basement of the First Baptist Church in Natick Center.  NCP is not affiliated with the First Baptist Church.

The two-hour playgroup sessions have time set aside for free play, an allergy-friendly snack, a simple craft activity and circle time.  Our age appropriate toys include infant toys, slides, riding toys, dolls, a play kitchen, basketball hoops, puzzles, and a train set.  We also have playpens, exersaucers, and diaper changing facilities. Each group decides what activity to do during circle time (singing songs, playing with the parachute, reading etc).

Special events are held throughout the year for all members.  These events include a Winter party, Holiday party, Cookie Swap and end of year Picnic.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What is a cooperative?

In a cooperative, each member is expected to be an active participant.  Each parent is required to provide up to three or more snack and craft projects on a rotating basis throughout the year.  This duty includes clean-up after snack and craft, vacuuming, and trash removal.  Each member also participates on a committee to host one special event per year.

What if this is my first baby?

The NCP is a great way to meet other new parents!  The group meets on Fridays from 1:00 - 3:00 pm for parents with babies less than one year of age.  Dont worry if your baby is only a month or two old, this "playgroup" is more for the parents when babies are this young.

When are the sessions held?

In addition to the New Parent session listed above, there are sessions on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.  The morning sessions on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday are from 9:30-11:30 am.  The afternoon session is on Mondays from 3:00-5:00 pm.

Can I drop off my child?

No.  A parent must attend all sessions with the child/children.

Where is the First Baptist Church located?

The church is located at 13 Common Street, next to the Post Office, in Natick Center.  Natick Center is at the intersection of Rt. 27 & Rt. 135.

How much does it cost?

The annual membership fee is $125.00 per family and includes one session each week.  The sessions run weekly from September through May.
